Graduation

Sun May 10, 2009, 12:28 AM
Well its finally graduation time, five years later and i want to run through five things that i have learned in college

1. Its not about learning the material, its about getting a good grade

now this seems to be a bit contradictory, "chris what do you mean, dont you get a good grade by learning the material" NOT NECESSARILY. The end result is all that counts regardless of whether you learned anything or not. For example, you decide to take a teacher who is hard as balls and really teaches you the material. end result you get a B or C in the class. Alternative would be to take a teacher who doesnt really teach, tests based off homework and you dont learn a thing but you make an A in the class. Grad schools only care about the A. I could go on forever about this subject but lets continue.

2. Let yourself be open to making a huge diverse group of friends.

This sounds very cliche, and most people would say that they are not bound by stereotypes and expectations that they hold for themselves. I can say though that most people are and I was one of them. However I grew out of this and it is the best thing that has happen to me. believe it or not it was because i joined a fraternity. The reason for this was before i did my friends were the party guys and girls, jocks etc. But because i joined a very diverse group i made friends with people whom i wouldnt have been friends with before. Now these people who i would have never met or tried to meet are my best friends and i cant have imagined my last 3 years without them.

3. study hard so that you can play hard.

people who go to college and get bad grades are just retarded plain and simple.

4. Get to know your teachers early

harder then it sounds and something that is easy to let slide. BUT BOY WILL YOU REGRET IT

5. The people that you associate with will determine the person that you will be

everyone is a follower in some way or fashion and everyone can be peer pressured no matter how much they say they cant be. If you hang out with a bunch of pot heads, more then likely you will be a pot head. This goes for everything. Life is about balance and college life especially is about balancing your fun nature with you work nature. Finding friends that think like that is tough but once you do, college life is so much easier.
